Outside Mixer Wall Tap
These outside wall mounted mixer taps provide hot and cold water all year round – whatever the weather.
They have proved very popular with customers wanting to wash dogs & horses with warm water at all times of the year. A hose can easily be attached for these uses.
It is rare to find an external tap that is a mixer tap, let alone one that doesn’t freeze in sub-zero temperatures, which is why they have proved so popular.
How does it work?
The tap itself needs to be mounted to an outside wall, on a building which has a frost proof inside wall. The tap has separate hot and cold inlet tubes which allow for manually operated temperature control. When the tap is turned off it automatically drains and therefore no water is held in the tap that could potentially freeze. It is the water held in the tap that normally causes a ‘traditional’ external tap to rupture. A valve in the pipework enables the draining to occur. The valve is part of the pipework ‘behind’ the tap and sits on the inside wall. It is therefore important to order a tap with the correct wall thickness.
Specification & Installation
Please Note: These taps will need a break tank and pump installed if they are to be fed from a mains water supply.

How much do they cost ?
From £166.80 including VAT and deliveryVisit our online shop
- WALL THICKNESS – Specification of wall thickness is required when ordering so we can supply the correct length of tap feeds. These are not adjustable as the pipe & valve is an intrinsic part of the non-freeze function. Details of sizes available are on the order page.
- ORIENTATION – External Mixer taps are normally sold with a horizontal orientation, but a special order of a vertical one can be made if space does not allow for the above.
- HOSE COUPLINGS – If you would like to attach a hose to your tap, most normal fittings can be used. However, we favour quality Geka Couplings, which make connecting and disconnecting a hose fast and straightforward. A simple quarter turn is all that is required. Geka Couplings come in a set of two parts: Tap Connection and Hose Tail. Hose Tails have two options: 13mm or 19mm. Generally these are purchased as a set (From £12 inc VAT & delivery) but can also be ordered individually. Please Note: In freezing conditions, hoses must be disconnected from your tap.
